The Centenary anthem: 100 years of Real Madrid, brought to life in Prague

Some songs are much more than music. They carry memories, emotions and a sense of belonging. For Madridistas, the Himno del Centenario is one of them.

Written to commemorate Real Madrid’s 100th anniversary in 2002, the anthem became one of the most recognizable musical expressions of Madridismo and a tribute to a century of history, generations of supporters and unforgettable moments.

More than two decades later, that history was brought to life in Prague in a very special way.

During the official presentation of Peña Madridista El León Blanco, the Real Madrid Praga Ensemble, a 12-member group, performed the Centenary Anthem exclusively for our members and guests.

Renowned Czech tenor Aleš Briscein led the performance, one of the country’s most distinguished operatic voices and a soloist associated with Prague’s National Theatre and State Opera.

For El León Blanco, hearing such an iconic Real Madrid anthem performed live in the Czech capital was much more than a musical moment. It represented exactly what our Peña was created to achieve: bringing the spirit, history and emotion of Real Madrid closer to Madridistas in the Czech Republic.

Madrid and Prague, connected through music.
